What Others Blog ABout: Teach Travel Play

This blog was also featured in the WordPress home page. What caught my attention was also the pictures. I think I’m going to have to say that pictures are essentials to a good blog. Well, I meant in my opinion, since I don’t do much reading- unless the picture catches my attention first.

The pictures showed the adventures of a woman who while traveling the world, she was not only enjoy from it, but benefiting it and making a difference- teaching. One picture I really like was of her students in Japan, and a drawing one student had made that portrayed her.

It really motivated me because that is something I want to do. I want to be a nurse, and at one point in my life I want to be a travel nurse and helping others around the world, while they help me.

Lessons Learned: Synthesis Paper

The synthesis paper required one to summarize, critique, and analyze. It was like combining both the objective summary and the rhetorical analysis- but not really. The reason I say that its because they synthesis paper will use the purpose of the objective summary of being able to identify central ideas, however it will differentiate in the opinion part. Also, it will use the the “critiquing” from the rhetorical analysis.

Lessons Learned: Retorical Analysis

Thought both the Objective Summaries, and Rhetorical Analysis state the: name of author, essay title, and have a target audience that’s the only thing they have in common.

While the Objective Summary consists of an opinion free summary, the Rhetorical Analysis consists of “critiquing” the subject material. The goal was to present ones own opinion on the subject, therefore making it much easier than the objective summary since writing about ones opinion is always easier then not.

Lessons Learned: Objective Summaries

Having such a clear prompt worksheet to follow, the objective summaries weren’t too difficult. The list of specific requirements made it all easier. However, had we- or I personally not had that, it would have probably been difficult to not share my opinion throughout the paper.

Certain cases in which objective summaries will be used in everyday life is, in well, the obvious, future papers. Something else that came to mind though was resumes, knowing how to write an objective summary, may be helpful when writing the “objective statement” on a resume.

What Others Blog About: Domestic Simplicity

I found this blog on the WordPress home page.  Her first post that caught my attention was her “Fall Strolling“. It was the pictures of the adventures of what I learned were tw0 siblings, her kids. The older sister and her little brother reminded me a lot of my younger brother and I. As I continued to look through her posts the pictures of the two siblings just kept showing and they continued to remind me of the memories I had with my brother.  It made me wish we had the pictures to have captured those moments but more than anything that I was young again.

I guess the main reason it interested me was because I really liked the homey look to it and how family oriented it was. It allowed me to reminisce on my family. Not only that, but her pictures were great, the quality, angles and everything about them were enjoyable.

France bans Islamic veils.

On Monday, France put into effect a law against Islamic face veils. Woman who do so, face a charge of 150-euro and citizenship classes (not jail). People who force the veil on women however, face a year an prison and a 30,000-euro fine (punishment is grater if “victim of veil” is a minor).

President Nicolas Sarkozy, of France, claims that the laws purpose is to protect France from inequality. However, the Islamic woman targeted see it as a dishonor again their religion.

So, what do you believe? Is the ban on the veil a “good” or “bad” thing?

Take the poll!
